
Meet the Spartans: Julian Saldana

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team will feature a freshman each week in order to "Meet the Spartans" leading up to the 2016-17 season.
This week freshman Julian Saldana (Melvindale, Mich./Melvindale High School) sat down with msuspartans.com to answer some questions.
Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?
I chose to wrestle at Michigan State, because I strongly feel that MSU is the school for me both academically and in the sport of wrestling. I would have not wanted to go to any school other than MSU.
What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
I am most excited about competing with the best and bettering myself as a wrestler.
When did you first start wrestling?
I started wrestling in sixth grade.
Favorite wrestling memory?
My favorite memory is winning the MHSAA D2 2016 individual state championships.
What's your major at Michigan State and why?
My major at Michigan state is kinesiology, because I want to work in the medical field and include the love that I have for sports.
Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
My high school coach, Coach Faisal.
What superhero power would you have if you could choose one?
Super speed.
Favorite Meal?
A filet mignon from El Asador Steak House.
Favorite TV show?
SpongeBob.
Favorite thing to do besides wrestling?
I like to spend time with my friends and family.
