EAST LANSING - Michigan State redshirt freshman defenseman Jerad Rosburg was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Rosburg played a big role in the Spartans going 1-0-1 last weekend at North Dakota as he scored a pair of goals and had an assist in MSU's 4-3 win. Both of Rosburg's goals came in the opening period of Friday's victory and his assist came on Joe Cox's eventual game-winning goal in the third period.
His three-point night was the first by a Spartan defenseman since December 2013.
The 6-foot-1 defenseman was plus-1 in Saturday's 2-2 tie and scored the winning goal in the 3-on-3 exhibition overtime session.
The honor is the first of Rosburg's career and first for a Spartan this season.
