•  Michigan State hosts its annual "Jam Jenison" event on Saturday when the Spartans host the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines. The first 500 patrons will receive a free Jam Jenison T-Shirt. Students are admitted for free. Â
•  MSU took a 3-2 decision at Rutgers on Wednesday night to start the ninth week of Big Ten play.  The Spartans took a 2-0 match lead, but a determined, scrappy Scarlet Knights team battled back to take the next two and force a fifth set.  MSU won the fifth by a 15-13 margin.Â
Michigan has lost six of its last seven matches, including a 3-0 decision at Penn State on Wednesday. Â Carly Skjodt led the Wolverines with 11 kills in the effort, marking her 23rd outing this season with kills in double figures. Â Michigan finished with a .107 team hitting percentage.
•  MSU is 54-41-1 all-time against Michigan, and the teams have split their regular-season meetings in each of the last eight seasons.  Each team has won in its home facility in each of the last four years.  Mark Rosen is in his 20th season at the helm of the Wolverines, and earlier this season picked up his 600th collegiate victory.
• In 1990, Michigan State and Michigan began a "State Pride" season series to celebrate the in-state rivalry.  A State of Michigan flag, bearing the state motto "Tuebor" (`I Will Defend') serves as the trophy for winner of the head-to-head meetings of the two teams.Â
   The two teams shared the Flag in 2014 as both tiebreakers (set wins, and then total points) were even. MSU had won or shared the Flag in six straight seasons (2010-15) before Michigan claimed the Flag in each of the last two years with more set victories (4-3).
•  The NCAA released the latest NCAA Division I graduation rate data on Wednesday, Nov. 14.  MSU student-athletes for the entering classes of 2008-2011 recorded a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 88% – an all-time high for the school.  Volleyball was among the eight Spartan programs which boasted a perfect GSR of 100%, joining men's basketball, men's tennis, rowing, field hockey, women's golf, gymnastics, women's soccer.Â
• Samantha McLean has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team.  She is one of just three non-seniors to make one of the two teams in District V, and the only one to make the first team. McLean is a Kinesiology/ Pre-Med major.  In addition to maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, and is one of just two players to appear in every set for the Spartans this season.  She is MSU's primary DS, and averages 1.90 digs per set, while adding 15 service aces, one of seven MSU players to post double-digit ace totals this season.Â
• Maddie Haggerty posted her fifth straight double-double in Wednesday's win at Rutgers, posting 13 kills and 12 digs.  Over the last five matches, she's averaging 3.23 kills and 2.68 digs per set, hitting a team-best .278 and posted seven aces.
•  Naya Gros hit .625 in the Wednesday match at Rutgers, posting 12 kills and adding a team-best six blocks.  Gros is fifth in the Big Ten in blocks per set (1.19) and 10th in the Conference in hitting percentage (.323). Â
•  Alyssa Chronowski posted 11 kills at Rutgers, the 21st match this season she's had double-digit terminations.  She leads the Spartans with 3.15 kills per set (14th, B1G) and adds 0.92 blocks and 0.64 digs. Â
•  Rebecka Poljan hit .353 with eight kills and two blocks at Rutgers, and has been MSU's block leader in four of the last six matches.  She's averaging 1.01 blocks per set on the season to to with 1.79 kills per frame.Â
•  Molly Johnson posted eight kills and four blocks on Wednesday, and now ranks fourth among Spartans with 1.81 kills per set.  Â
•  Elena Shklyar ranks 12th in the Big Ten with 8.05 assists per set.  Over the last five games, Shklyar has 13 aces (0.59 per set). Â
