SPARTANS TO WATCH
Michigan State has four former NCAA qualifiers on their roster this season in sophomore Rayvon Foley (125), redshirt sophomore Drew Hughes (174), redshirt senior Austin Eicher (141) and graduate transfer Anthony Tutolo (133).
Foley qualified for NCAA's last season as a true freshman after finishing the season with a team-best 28-11 record. Hughes and Eicher are both aiming to start the 2018-19 season strong after injuries hampered each of their seasons a year ago, preventing them from making returns to the NCAA championships. Eicher was a back-to-back qualifier prior to last season and Hughes finished the season with a 29-10 record as a true freshman in 2016-17. Foley and Hughes each earned second place finishes at the MSU Open last season. Tutolo arrives in East Lansing from Kent State University where he qualified for the NCAA championships in each of the last two seasons. In 2017-18, Tutolo held a record of 29-13 and advanced to day two of the NCAA championships.
Three Spartans return after winning their weight class in the freshman/sophomore division last season in Jaden Enriquez, Nathan Atienza and Cameron Caffey. Enriquez and Ateinza finished the season 17-6 in tournaments while Caffey was 22-6. Caffey also took first at the Storm and Alma Open events. Brad Wilton was 21-8 in open events last season, taking as third at the MSU and Eastern Michigan open events.

Michigan State Head Coach Roger Chandler
"It's great to just get our guys started and I know they're excited, especially being at home. The Michigan State Open is always something they look forward to. t's on campus and we always have top notch competition that comes to this event so you're going to see quality Division I wrestling and I know our guys are ready to compete.
"Our whole team has been looking really good up until this point, but obviously you're going to point to the guys who have had representation at the NCAA championships previously and that's Rayvon Foley, Anthony Tutolo, Austin Eicher and Drew Hughes. There's other guys that are right there too, who I fully expect to be at the NCAA championships this year such as Cameron Caffey or Shwan Shadaia, then you've got Jake Tucker and even at 165, that weight class is a little unsettled for us, but I think whoever ends up being out starter at the end of the day can compete at the highest level."
