 GAME REPLAY Â
•  SET ONE:  Both teams had a bit of a rocky start The Spartans staked an 8-6 lead despite not recording a kill, and they pushed it to 12-6, forcing the Crimson to call a time out. MSU's lead got pushed out to nine with a pair of aces on a service run by Chronowski, and a solo block by Hatcher made it 19-9 in favor of the Green & White. Harvard called its second time out trailing 21-9, but the Spartans came up with back-to-back blocks out of the break to keep the run going. The Crimson scored the next three points – on a block and an ace by Sandra Zeng – but Norris got Michigan State to set point at 24-13, and Gros closed it out with a cross-court dagger to take the set. Norris had three kills on four swings to lead MSU, while Gros had a pair of kills and added three of MSU's five blocks in the set.Â
Â
•  SET TWO: MSU steadily built to a 15-8 lead in the second frame, using a pair of aces and a hitting percentage of .438 (8-1-16). Julia Hatcher and Molly Johnson teamed up for a block on Mindie Mabry that pushed the MSU lead to eight, and Harvard called its first time out. Chronwski aced her first serve out of the break, but a pair of kills and a block by Christina Cornelius got the Crimson back into the match at 19-15. Cornelius kept her foot on the gas and brought her team within two at 20-18, and the teams began trading points. A block by Midgette and Gros stopped the Harvard run, and kills by Midgette and Chronowski made it 22-19, forcing the Crimson to take its second time out.  A pair of MSU service errors allowed Harvard to stay within two, but a Harvard error got the Spartans to set point. Molly Johnson put it on the floor to seal the 25-21 second-set win. Norris had four kills to lead MSU in the frame, while Chronowski added three. MSU added three aces in the set as well as a pair of blocks.Â
