No. 13 Michigan State Beats Eastern Michigan, 83-67

East Lansing, Mich. – Junior guard Foster Loyer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) scored a career-high 20 points and graduate student Joshua Langford (Huntsville, Ala./Madison Academy) scored 10 points in his first game action in nearly two years as No. 13 Michigan State opened the 2020-21 season with an 83-67 win over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night at the Breslin Center.

Redshirt junior forward Joey Hauser (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point) had 15 points and nine rebounds, while junior forward Gabe Brown (Ypsilanti, Mich./Belleville) had 12 points off the bench.

Summary

The Spartans led by 16 points, 43-27, at the break, and took a 20-point lead 66-46, on a conventional three-point play from Hauser midway through the half.
MSU took its largest lead, 81-59, on a jumper from sophomore forward Malik Hall (Aurora, Ill./Sunrise Christian Academy [Kan.]) with 2:11 left to play in the game.
After taking a 17-10 lead on a 3-pointer from Langford early in the first half, the Eagles used a 9-0 burst to take a 19-17 lead on a 3-pointer from Miles Gibson with 8:50 to play in the half.
A layup from Hall and back-to-back 3-pointers from Loyer and Brown gave MSU a 25-19 lead and was part of a 13-0 burst as MSU took a 30-19 lead on another trey from Loyer.
