Throughout the spring, we're going to take the opportunity to bring you a quick Q&A session with each of our players. We continue this series with sophomore DS/Libero Lauryn Gibbs.
Also - head to our instagram page (MichStVB) to see our players' "Stay Home, Stay Safe" playlists - we all need a little musical inspiration these days!

What is something unique about your hometown?: I grew up in a very small town, Mt. Morris, Mich. There’s really nothing very unique about this place!
Sports I played growing up other than volleyball: I played basketball, softball, and soccer growing up. In high school I ran track, played tennis and power lifted.
My favorite sport to watch: Basketball
My favorite volleyball memory (either at MSU, travel ball, high school, etc.): Winning a crossover match my 17s year to go to the final four at nationals.
What was your favorite subject when you were growing up?: History
What is your major at MSU? How did you choose it?: My major is communication. I choose this major because I have a very outgoing personality and I enjoy being able to use it.
Do you have a nickname? How’d you get it?: Gibby, Gibbs, Gibblet, Jibbs and I got all these nicknames from my my last name being Gibbs.
Who has been the most important or influential person in your life? The most influential person I have in my life is my dad. He has always been the person that will put in extra work to make sure i’m better at volleyball and life. His biggest goal is to make sure I reached mine and that’s the kind of selflessness I aspire to have.
What is your favorite Big Ten city to visit? What has been your favorite non-conference road trip in your MSU career?: My favorite Big Ten city to visit is Illinois. This reminds me a lot of East Lansing with all the trees and a college town feel. My favorite non-conference road trip was when we went to Charleston because I had never been there and the city is stunning.
If you had one family member to spend a week with on an all-expenses paid vacation, who would it be?Where would you go? I would spend a week vacation with my brother Eric because he makes me laugh more than anyone and is always down to have fun. I feel like Eric and I would like to go somewhere like Ireland to experience our heritage. I would want to experience the food, culture and scenery.
Your teammates are inspirational people in their own right. Tell us about a teammate who has inspired you?: A teammate that has inspired me is Sam McLean (right). She was the first person to take me under her wing and make sure I felt loved here at Michigan State. She is the most hard-working person I know. She was a starter for three years and was a 4.0 student. Not only that, but she iseven a better person and puts others before herself.
