Cole Krygier tied the game with 2:01 to go, while Josh Nodler's one-timer with 37 seconds to play gave MSU the lead for good.

"I'm a tough guy to impress and they did (that) tonight. That's a gutsy bunch in there – good Spartans."
With no scoring since prior the midway point of the opening period, Michigan took a 2-1 lead with 4:38 to play on a goal By Brendan Brisson.
The Spartans responded though as Cole Krygier's tying goal came after pressure by MSU in the UM end. Kyle Haskins eventually got the puck out from behind the net out to Cole Krygier in the slot, who wasted no time and put a shot past goaltender Strauss Mann with 2:01 on the clock.

Nodler one-timed the pass and the puck got through Mann and trickled across the line for his first goal of the season.
"Christian did a good job of selling the shot and moved it over right to me," Nodler said. "I just had to put it on net and thankfully it went in."
MSU goaltender Drew DeRidder made 38 saves, including a crucial one on Matty Beniers in the closing seconds to preserve the win.
Michigan State showed some jump early on and scored on its first shot of the game as Charlie Combs made it 1-0 54 seconds into the opening period. Nodler was able to get the puck around behind the net to Mitchell Lewandowski in the left corner. Lewandowski swung it to Combs in the high slot, who fired the puck high pas the glove of Mann.
Michigan was able to capitalize on a turnover in the MSU end to tie the game with 11:53 to go in the first period. Johnny Beecher finished off the play, getting a pass in the low slot and putting it into the net.
While MSU was 0-for-3 on the power play, the Spartans erased all four of U-M's attempts on the man-advantage.
