GAME RECAP
- With five lead changes in over eight minutes of action, Hoggard put MSU ahead, 17-16, just before the U12 media timeout of the first half with a jumper from right inside the arc.
- After KU retook the lead, freshman guard Max Christie (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) got the ball on the right wing off a fast break and hit a 3-pointer with 8:31 left in the opening half, starting a 5-0 run over 1:47 of game time that was followed by a second-chance layup from redshirt senior Joey Hauser (Stevens Point, Wis./Marquette).
- Zach Clemence put together a run where he scored seven-straight KU points, giving the Jayhawks a 32-21 edge at 3:31 with a layup that accounted for the 10th and final lead change of the night. The Clemence bucket started a 9-0 run by Kansas that was capped off with four seconds left on the first-half clock when Agbaji drained a pair of free throws.
- MSU came out of the intermission by making five field goals in its first seven attempts to cut the lead to 48-45 KU on a Hoggard three-ball after Marble dove into the crowd to keep possession for the Spartans off a Brown miss.
- Agbaji responded with a pair of dunks to put Kansas up, 52-45, finishing an alley-oop out of the U16 media timeout and then dunking on a fast break off a MSU turnover.
- David McCormack gave Kansas its largest lead of the night, 77-61, when he finished a dunk at 6:06 of the second half.
- Brown cut into the lead with a pull-up jumper at 5:22, followed by Marble sinking two free throws and Brown stepping back for a 3-pointer with 4:13 left to counter another Agbaji dunk and make it 79-68.
- Marble drew a foul on a drive at 2:39 and made both free throws to bring the Spartans back to a 10-point deficit at 81-71, but Agbaji later made both of his free throw attempts with 2:20 left to push the lead back to 12 at 83-71.
- Remy Martin put away MSU for good with a step-back jumper at the 1:30 mark to extend the lead to 85-72, as a Hoggard driving layup was answered by a layup from Dajuan Harris with 15 seconds remaining in the game to end the scoring.
