Spartans Complete Opening Two Rounds of the Kiawah Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND, South Carolina – A day after being rained out, the Michigan State men's golf team completed its opening two rounds of the Kiawah Invitational at the Oak Point Golf Club on Monday. The Spartans were one of just three teams in the field of 14 to complete both rounds on Monday as play was suspended just before 6 p.m. due to darkness.

MSU is 5-over-par 581, which puts them in 13^th place when play resumes on Tuesday. The field of elite teams includes Wake Forest, Kentucky and Clemson, which currently occupy the top three spots and have yet to complete their second rounds.

Play will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

James Piot led MSU as he's tie for 21^st place at 3-under-par 141. He followed up a 3-over-par 75 with a stellar 6-under 66 that included seven birdies. The 66 tied Piot's career-best round.

Andrew Walker also put together a round in the 60s as he fired a 3-under-par 69 in round two. He's 2-under-par 142 and tied for 27^th place.

Bradley Smithson is 5-over-par 149 (75-74), followed by Troy Taylor II at 6-over-par 150 (73-77) and August Meekhof at 9-over-par 153 (77-76).
