WEST LAFAYETTE -- The Michigan State men's golf team completed the Boilermaker Invitational on Sunday by finishing seventh in the field of 16 at Purdue's Kampen Golf Course. The Spartans shot an 11-over-par 299 in Sunday's final round and finished the tournament 15-over-par 879 (287-293-299). Kent State won the team title at 12-under-par 852.

"There was some good stuff today, but overall, it was a disappointing final round. We didn't manage our mishits and that made for a tough final round, which is something we have to correct going forward," MSU head coach Casey Lubahn said.
James Piot led MSU as he notched his third consecutive top-10 finish, tying for ninth place at 2-under-par 214 (71-72-71). Piot shot his second 1-under-par 71 of the tournament on Sunday, which included a birdie and seven pars over the final eight holes.
"James is so consistent, that's who he is," Lubahn said. "He didn't putt it his best and you can't win every week. But, if you tie for ninth when you're not at your best, then that's a good sign."
Andrew Walker had his best round of the tournament on Sunday with an even-par 72. He tied for 30th place at 4-over-par 220 (75-73-72).
Bradley Smithson (74-73-79) and August Meekhof (74-75-77) both tied for 54th place at 10-over-par 226.
Troy Taylor II was 11-over-par 227 (68-76-83) and tied for 59th place.
Minnesota's Angus Flanagan took medalist honors at 9-under-par 207.
Zach Rosendale and Pierce Morrissey both competed in the Boilermaker Individual across from Kampen at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. Rosendale finished 5-over-par 221 (73-74-74), tying for 21st place, while Morrissey was 10-over-par 226 (75-7774), tying for 30th.
MSU is off to Nebraska next weekend for the Git-R-Done Husker Invitational, April 17-18.
