
Swartz Earns All-District Honors from CoSIDA

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State volleyball player Lauren Swartz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District team, as announced on Thursday, June 10.Â

Sixty-nine Division I volleyball student-athletes earned the honor, split across eight districts. Those players advance to the national ballot, with Academic All-America selections for Division I volleyball slated to be announced on Monday, July 12.Â

Swartz, who graduated from Michigan State with an undergrad degree in economics and a master's in marketing research, completed both degrees with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. She is one of six Spartans to twice earn All-District honors and looks to become MSU's third two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America. Both Dana Cooke (1995, 1996) and Samantha McLean (2018, 2019) accomplished the feat, earning third-team honors as a junior and first team as a senior.Â

Swartz, who was a Third-Team Academic All-America in 2019, recently earned the Presidents Award, given to the graduating MSU student-athlete with the highest grade-point average. She is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and will earn Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors this spring for the fourth time as well.Â

The 6-6 Swartz was the team's Most Improved Player as a freshman in 2016 and was the team's Kirkby Scholar-Athlete Award winner twice. She appeared in 61 career matches over her four varsity seasons, and also participated in
