EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State track and field program is set to compete at the Indiana Invitational this weekend in Bloomington, while distance runner Jenna Magness will run Friday at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va.

Action begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Indiana, while Magness will take to the tack in Virginia at approximately 9:05 p.m. that night. The Spartans then resume competition in Bloomington on Saturday at 11 a.m.

MSU is coming off an eventful week that began with Morgan Beadlescomb placing second in the men's 5000m invite at the Bryan Clay Invitational, running a 13:17.16 time that broke his own school record and put him eighth in NCAA history. Beadlescomb's run ended up earning him Big Ten Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. The Spartans then tallied three event winners at the Louisville Invitational, also registering six runner-up finishes, as John Petruno placed first in the men's 3000m race with a personal record of 8:07.90 and set a stadium record, while Jaiden Paris tallied a 13.45 PR time in the women's 100m hurdles to win that event.

Magness, the third Spartan winner in Louisville with a 4:16.89 PR in the women's 1500m, is slated to run the 5000m distance at the Virginia Challenge. Action in Bloomington will feature a rematch in the men's 1500m between Beadlescomb and Petruno after the two finished first and second at the Spartan Invite. Additionally, Ryan Talbot and Heath Baldwin are set to return to competition after a week off following the pair sweeping the top two spots in the Jim Click Shootout's decathlon, while Quiara Wheeler will throw in the women's hammer and discus events after placing top-5 in both events two weeks ago at Miami's Hurricane Alumni Invitational.

The Green and White have multiple athletes appearing on the NCAA performance lists entering the week, as Beadlescomb's 13:17.16 time in the 5000m ranks second in the nation, while Trevor Stephenson's 5.41m pole vault at the Raleigh Relays is 13th nationally. Additionally, Talbot's 7677 decathlon points at the Jim Click Shootout rank 12th in the NCAA and Baldwin's 7604 points in the same meet sit 15th, while Petruno's 3:40.43 school-record time in the Raleigh Relays' 1500m ranks 34th among Division I runners.

On the women's side, Sophia Franklin's 4.32m vault at the Spartan Invite puts her 12th in the nation, while Makayla Perez is 20th in the 10000m after posting a 33:36.86 at the Raleigh Relays and Kate Stewart-Barnett's 10:1139 time in the 3000m steeplechase in Raleigh also ranks 20th. The 4:16.89 PR from Magness last weekend ranks 24th among women's 1500m times, and Lynsie Gram's 33:51.14 time in the 10000m in Raleigh stands at 35th in the NCAA.
