EAST LANSING, Mich. -Â Michigan State volleyball (18-8, 8-8 B1G) wraps up the road portion of its B1G schedule this weekend, traveling to No. 24 Penn State on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. before visiting Ohio State on Sunday, Nov. 23 at noon.
The Spartans dropped both of their B1G contests last weekend, falling to then-No. 11 Wisconsin in three sets at home before dropping a road match at Michigan.Â
MSU's 18 wins are the most in a season since going 24-9 in 2017. At 8-8 in conference play, MSU sits in a two-way tie for 10th place in the B1G alongside Illinois. Undefeated Nebraska is first in the conference standings, while Purdue and Wisconsin are both in second at 13-3.
Junior outside hitter Karolina Staniszewska recorded a team-leading 3.67 kills per set over MSU's two matches, the 10th-best combined kills/set number in the conference last week. She totaled 22 kills, including 13 on .296 hitting at Michigan, to post her team-leading 15th double-digit kill match of the season. Against Wisconsin, junior outside hitter Taylah Holdem led the Spartans with 11 kills on a .261 clip to mark her second-straight match in double figures (kills) after also totaling 11 kills at Oregon on Nov. 9. Rounding back into form after missing eight matches earlier this season, her 11 kills were the most in a match since posting the same number against App State on Sept. 12.
On the defensive end, junior libero Lia Schneider tallied a team-high 16 digs over last week's matches, while junior setter Cam Berger notched a career-high and team-best nine digs at Michigan.Â
Splitting time in a 6-2 system in both matches last week, redshirt freshman Malayah Long and Berger totaled 31 and 21 assists, respectively, last week.
