MSU Captures Six First-Place Titles at Michigan Invitational; Allen sets Meet Record

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State track & field had a solid day at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, capturing six first-place finishes on the day.
Saturday in Ann Arbor, the Spartans found success on the track and on the field.
Michigan State started the day with a victory in the women's weight throw from Elle Adrian, who convincingly won with a best throw of 22.15m. Rylan Finstrom finished fourth with a personal-best throw of 17.78m. She also finished third in the women's shot put with a throw of 16.11m.
The Spartans also found a lot of success in the men's weight throw. Xavier Griffiths finished first with a throw of 19.90m, Â just shy of his personal best. Dalton DeBeau took third with (19.46m), while Dillon Morlock was fourth with a personal-best throw of 18.10m.
Dillon Morlock found the top of the podium in the men's shot put. Dillon finished first with a best throw of 18.97, while his brother Colby took second with a throw of 18.46m.
In the men's pole vault, Adam Blue won the event with a personal-best vault of 5.31m. The 5.31m is sixth-best in Michigan State history. In the women's pole vault, Sophia Mettes took fourth with a season best vault of 4.08m.
On the track, the Spartans continued to gather first-place finishes. Logan Allen won the first event for MSU on the track with a victory in the 60m hurdles. He qualified first and kept going into the final. He won the even with a Michigan Invitational meet record time of 7.79.
In the men's 60m, both Jeremy Dixon and Cameron Cheetam qualified for the final. In the final, it was Cheetam who came out on top with a personal-best time of 6.77. It was the fourth-best time in Michigan State history.
On Friday at the Jud Logan Light Giver Indoor Pentathlon at Ashland University, Tess Roman was the top collegiate finisher with 3,823 points, which was the second-best score in MSU history.
Michigan State is back in action Feb. 13-14 at the Heartland Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana.
