   A four-year letterwinner for Michigan State, Abby Monson will serve as a graduate manager for the Spartans in 2019. She was a fifth-year student coach in the 2018 season.
   Monson helped MSU to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the 2017 Elite Eight, MSU’s second-best finish in program history. A defensive specialist/libero, Monson finished her four-year career with 971 career digs (2.70 per set) and 45 service aces. She was the recipient of the MSU Extra Mile Award as a freshman, and earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2017 as a senior.
   Monson graduated in December 2018 with her bachelor’s degree in Advertising, and is pursuing a master’s degree in Education, Coaching and Leadership. She will be heavily involved with MSU volleyball’s social media efforts.
