   Michigan State added Dominique (Gonzalez) Tomlin to the Spartan staff as an assistant coach in January 2020.  A rising star in the coaching ranks, Gonzalez was an accomplished B1G student-athlete at Penn State, giving her unique talents and experiences that help round out the Spartan staff.
   Tomlin, a San Antonio native, spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Texas - San Antonio before making the move to East Lansing.Â
    The Roadrunners made their first-ever trip to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) in 2019, and went 19-8 with a second-place Conference USA finish in 2018.  Over her three seasons, UTSA accomplished a 28-14 record (.667) in conference play.Â
    Tomlin served as an assistant coach on  the 2016 staff at Kent State where she helped the Golden Flashes become one of the top defensive teams in The Mid-American Conference. She helped Kent State register the third-most digs in program history (2,017) and posted 16.67 digs per set, best for 35th in the nation and third in the MAC.
   Tomlin was a three-year team captain for Penn State (2011-14) and helped the Nittany Lions to a pair of national titles.  During her career, the Nittany Lions compiled a four-year record of 128-16 (.889) that included a third trip to the national semifinals in 2012, four NCAA Tournaments appearances and two B1G championships. She finished her career fourth on the school’s career digs list with 1,474.Â
    She earned a degree in kinesiology with a minor in fitness studies from Penn State in 2015. Tomlin and her husband, Martin, reside in East Lansing.Â
