
Heath Baldwin Breaks Heptathlon School Record at PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Michigan State senior Heath Baldwin broke the school record in the heptathlon on Friday and Saturday at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, highlighting an impressive weekend by the Spartans' jumps, sprints, throws and multis squads at the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center in Louisville.
"Overall, it was a very solid meet for us," said Michigan State jumps and combined events coach Ceith Creekmur. "We had some of the best competition we've seen so far this year, and I think we did a good job of staying locked in and engaged."
MULTIS
Baldwin totaled 5959 points over the two-day event, breaking the previous record of 5944 set by Nick Guerrant in 2019. He set personal bests in the 60m (7.19), long jump (7.19m) and high jump (2.13m), while recording the top marks in the 12-athlete field in both the shot put and high jump. Baldwin won the event, edging out Pittsburgh's Felix Wolter by 112 points.
Sophomore Dylan Terryberry placed seventh in the event with 4822 points in his first-ever heptathlon. He set a personal best in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.80m.
In the women's multis, sophomore Autumn Glover (6th, 3503) and senior Cam Luyckx (9th, 3088) competed in the first pentathlons of their careers. Glover posted personal bests in the 60m hurdles (9.29) and shot put (9.96m), while Luyckx earned personal bests in the 60m hurdles (9.17) and long jump (5.36m).
SPRINTS/HURDLES
Sophomore Logan Allen qualified to the finals of the men's 60m hurdles, running 8.28 to take fifth place. In the men's 400, sophomore Noah Sage ran 47.41 to finish third and was one of four athletes in the race to break the facility record.
In the women's sprints, graduate student Shakira Dancy ran a season-best 24.32 in the 200m for seventh place. Junior Lexy Alston posted her fourth sub-60 second performance of the season in the 400, running a season-best 58.18.
JUMPS
Sophomore Jalen Nelson broke the seven-meter barrier in the long jump for the first time in his career, posting a mark of 7.00m to take ninth. In the men's pole vault, fifth-year seniors Trevor Stephenson and Michael Davenport both cleared 5.18m. Stephenson placed third in the seeded section of the event, while Davenport earned runner-up honors in the open section with a personal-best clearance.
Senior Olivia Lopez posted a season-best 5.53m mark in the women's long jump for 13th place. Freshman Sophia Mettes placed seventh in the pole vault with a 4.03m clearance, which tied for the top mark of the meet in the event.
THROWS
Freshman Colby Morlock placed 11th in the men's shot put with a mark of 16.39m.
In the women's throws, sophomore Valadian Pallett earned a pair of top-10 finishes, placing ninth in the shot put with a mark of 14.77m and 10th in the weight throw with an 18.58m throw. Sophomore Opal Jackson placed 10th in the shot put with a mark of 14.72m.
