PREVIOUSLY FOR THE GREEN AND WHITE
Michigan State is coming off a split-squad weekend that saw the rewrite several spots in the Spartan record books at the Wake Forest Invitational and the Big Red Classic.
At the Wake Forest Invitational, graduate student Kate Stewart-Barnett delivered the performance of the weekend in her season debut of the 3000m steeplechase. Crossing the line in 9:45.52, Stewart-Barnett secured first place and currently holds the third-fastest time in the NCAA this season. The 1500m Invite featured a near-historic performance from senior Timothy Cherry, who clocked a personal-best 3:38.73. The time is the second-fastest in Michigan State history, finishing just .51 seconds shy of the school record set by Morgan Beadlescomb in 2022. On the women's side, graduate distance runner Olivia Millen led the way in the 1500m invite with time of 4:15.83, good for a third-place.
At the Big Red Classic, sophomore sprinter Cameron Cheetam was a force for the Spartans claiming three event titles. Cheetam set personal bests in both the men's 100m (10.36, which was the sixth-fastest time in MSU history) and the men's 200m (20.93), before anchoring the winning 4x100m relay team with a time of 40.84, alongside teammates Andrew Harding, Andrew Novak, and Carter Bissell.
